Helping Children Displaced by the
War in Ukraine
The war in Ukraine has triggered one of the largest humanitarian crises in recent history — and children are among the hardest hit. Families have been forced from their homes by violence, uncertainty, and loss. Millions of young lives have been disrupted, and without immediate support, the long-term consequences will be profound.
A Crisis Without Precedent
• More than 6.9 million Ukrainians have been forced to flee the country as refugees, with children comprising a significant share of that total. Around 34 % of refugees are estimated to be children — meaning well over 2 million young lives uprooted from home and community
Children’s Lives Shattered by War
• Children face not only the immediate dangers of violence, but also the long-term disruption of education, health care, and community life — with hundreds of schools and other essential facilities damaged or destroyed.
