SYRIAN REFUGEE CHILDREN

  • At least 1.2 million Syrian refugees have crossed the border into Lebanon.

  • The Greek Islands and Athens have been inundated with refugees, many of them arriving by boats and rafts.

  • 51% are under the age of 18.

  • While the UN and large NGOs are addressing emergency rapid response needs, refugee children are foregoing their education and childhood.

True Change Global Fund’s Funding Focus

  • Four child-safe centers, to introduce schooling programs and allow frontline evaluation of children for injury and psychological needs.

  • Using volunteer and privately paid teachers, we educate Syrian children. The curriculum includes 6-8 hours of psychosocial care, multicultural exposure and instruction in several languages (Arabic, English and French).

  • Additional centers support Syrian and Palestinian children in Shatila and other existing Palestinian camps in Lebanon.

  • Cross-border programs to bring care to children trapped in worn-torn Syria.

  • In Greece, True Change Global Fund is focused on the Lagkadikia Syrian refugee camp, the camps located on the islands of Lesbos and Samos, and education centers in Athens.
